BAE Systems Shared Services Glascoed
Background
Thank you for your patience whilst we work through what has been and continues to be a particularly busy period. As a union, Prospect are working to increase our communications, including reviewing the possibility of issuing a monthly newsletter.
We value your feedback and would welcome your thoughts on whether this would be of interest and what you’d like to see included. We would also welcome any members to come forward to share expertise that may support with moving this forward.
The 2026 pay talks are ongoing. In late January, we made a deliberate decision to not be the first group to begin negotiations. We have reflected on previous years when Shared Services have made an early agreement, and other groups have secured better outcomes at a later stage. Our approach this time has been to wait until we have a clearer picture of what is being offered elsewhere before entering full negotiations.
We have also reviewed the company's year-end results before commencing talks and taken into account wider cost-of-living pressures on our members including the potential impact of US tariffs, the ongoing conflict in Iran, the blockade in the Straits of Hormuz, and the resulting rise in fuel costs.
In addition, we were advised by the company that the current HR systems upgrade would result in any agreed settlement not being processed until the October pay round. Any deal concluded will therefore be backdated to January 2026. The Company and Unions agreed that this slower approach to the timing of talks was sensible considering these circumstances.
To date there has been two formal face-to-face sessions, alongside several informal discussions. In those talks, we have made clear that we are seeking a fair offer that reflects the company's strong performance such as the record share price, a substantial order backlog, and increased dividends. The settlement also needs to properly recognise the huge contribution our members make to those results. We made clear that it was time for Shared Services to make a visible recognition that your contribution to the company is valued. We have also indicated that we wish to discuss non-salary terms and conditions with a view to improving work/life balance.
Our third round of formal face-to-face talks will take place on 24 April, and we will update members further following that meeting.
